We are currently looking to recruit a National Account Manager for our client based in Birstall.
Reporting to the Commercial Controller your main duties and responsibilities are to develop in close conjunction with the CC N&KA the marketing/business plan for each designated account aimed at profitable growth, integrated within the company’s overall business strategy and financial objectives, and within the guidelines of the Group Marketing planning process, and ensure mutual achievement of budgeted sales turnover, gross margin and profit objectives.
To strive continuously to optimise National Accounts business performance by pro-actively developing business improvement proposals based on consumer insight
Prepare and manage, in liaison with the Commercial Controller N&KA, the submission of annual marketing and/or brand plans for each designated account, in order to set the annual objectives and contribute towards the Business Unit and Group strategy.
Manage the implementation and continually review the individual Account objectives to maintain synergy with the Business Unit, Group and the Account’s strategy.
Manage the own brand and branded development of the paint, woodcare, sundries and speciality product groups within each designated Account and make strategic brand recommendations to ensure the achievement of sales, margin and profit objectives.
Monitor the actual sales, margin and profit against the objectives set for each designated Account and make recommendations regarding any action required to ensure targets are met. Be aware of contractual agreements and objectives.
Prepare, implement and manage the annual marketing budget for each designated Account, in order to meet both Account and Company objectives.
Develop and manage a working relationship with the Buying and Marketing functions of the designated Accounts to ensure a joint Account/Brand strategy is developed and implemented.
Recommend tactical marketing activity to ensure the designated Accounts maintain their competitive edge and market share and achieve their commercial objectives.
Implement and control regular Account range and product reviews and make recommendations to ensure each designated Account achieves its sales, margin and profit objectives.
Take full responsibility for the National Accounts (Product) Marketing part within the process of IMP/New Activities, and align timely with Commercial, Business Development, Supply Chain and Technical to get all relevant deliverables in time in full
Manage and control relevant activity deadlines in line with both the Account and the company’s business objectives to ensure commercial targets are achieved
Align with the Controller and his team to negotiate and ensure quality and timely delivery of all the services under their direct responsibility relating to marketing research & analysis, colour marketing and forecasting, and E-business
Pro-actively develop profit and growth driven proposals throughout the year for improving the National Accounts performance, based on thorough and detailed customer and consumer insight; present these proposals to the senior management and deliver the benefits to the business
As required, participate in Company and Group activity to ensure the objectives of the activity are achieved.
A degree or equivalent business studies qualification or marketing qualification
Sales / account management qualification
Minimum of two years marketing and / or product experience with a record of success with involvement in own label and/or branded development
Must demonstrate new product development involvement
High commercial awareness
Sales, account management or buying experience could be an advantage.
Experience of FMCG or consumer durables or DIY experience an advantage
Must be computer literate
Must have the ability to work on own initiative, be a team player, be analytical / numerate
Good attention to detail is required, coupled with an awareness of deadlines
A confident, pro-active style with strong presentation and communication skills is also required

In return my client is looking to pay a salary of between £30-35,000 plus company car, pension, healthcare, death in service with 25 days holiday.
